Like Riding a bike

Day 1 with my new board! Everything went as well as to be expected. I fell a few times and my feet were kind of numb but all will be better tomorrow. :)

There were so many people out and the lines for the lifts were insane. B and I waited in line for almost an hour. We are contemplating going back tonight in hopes the lines will be a little shorter.

Must Try Harder

It seems as though married life has gotten the best of the blog. I have done a poor job of updating what has been going on in the first 6 months of our new life. FAIL. I am going to try and do a better.  Here's to a new start! ha!

Brett has another new job! He is working for Exponential Consulting. Strayer, his previous employer, is now one of his clients.  I don't really understand all that he does, but in my brain it turns out that he works on upgrading accounting systems for different clients/companies. He is loving his options working from home most days.  I wish I had that luxury, but no, someone has to teach the youth of America how to succeed.

Aside from hibernating this winter and only coming out for snowboarding, I am so happy that it is starting to warm up.  A few weeks ago I went to Charleston with a friend from HS to her bachelorette weekend.  It was so much fun.  We stayed in an amazing house in Isle of Palms, went out to eat, went to bars, saw the beach and showed the bride how much we love her.  I am now a huge fan of Charleston and would love to go back for an extended vacation.

Spring break was late in April. Brett, Kell, Nick & I went to Duck.  The weather was pretty interesting for the most part.  The second night we were there, there were really horrible tornadoes that ripped through southern VA, parts of NC and the OBX.  Both houses missed getting hit by narrow margins.  Scarborough Lane was hit and so were a few buildings on rt. 158.  We were very lucky that neither of our houses suffered any damage.  After this horrible night, the sun came out and it was beyond beautiful for 3 days.  Then Thurs and Fri it was about 60deg. - def sweatshirt weather. Then of course Saturday was awesome and Brett and I had to leave.  During our SB we went to Tortugas for amazing burgers, ate Duck doughnuts, grilled out, went to Walmart, watched dad paint the living room, went to the beach, cam got groomed (she looks so cute!), watched lots of movies/tv and I tried to get a tan.

My school has been going through renovation and my classroom has been packed for 2 weeks. We were supposed to move before spring break, 14 days ago, 12 days ago, the Monday over spring break, Wednesday over spring break & yesterday. We Haven't moved yet.  Renovation is semi stressful.  It's a good thing that I'm a great planner (so is my team mate- CL) and due to this we have planned our lessons for the next 2+weeks.  We are so eager to move to our new beautiful classrooms. I'll be posting pics of it as soon as we move! Keep your fingers crossed for a move this Thursday next Monday.

Phew- up to dateish.
This coming weekend 2 HUGE things are happening.  My 2 dear college friends are getting married. On the same day. So excited and so sad. We can only go to one. I will be anxiously awaiting pics from Anne & Bobby's wedding as we attend Vance & Amanda's.  I love you both and wish we could be in two places at once.  Updates to come.

Ok. Time to pay my full attention to tonight's 16 & Pregnant. This girl is having twin boys.

New BOA Boots

Well, since we have been boarding about every weekend in Feb because it's our new favorite hobby, I thought it was a good idea to retire my used/old rental snowboard boots and buy some bad ass new ones. This is amazing for a few reasons. 1. only my feet will be/have been in them 2. K2 rocks 3. they are purple and black and match my jacket.  4. There is no reason not to be stylish on the slopes.

I am so stoked to try them out.

.... off to Whitetail.

Valentine's Day as a Mrs.

Since B and I went to Wisp this past weekend (and are going to Snowshoe next weekend), we decided to stay in and watch Mad Men, drink wine & eat great food. I had a super amazing plan of making a prime rib roast with potatoes, onions and carrots, salad, wine and dessert.  Well, all would have gone according to plan if teeter would have had prime rib.  Apparently they didn't. But I secretly think that the man in the white butcher robe didn't know what I was asking for.  He was just grabbing hand fulls of shrimp for the rest of the people in line...

When I got home from the grocery the laundry was started, the dishwasher unloaded and our snow gear was put away.  There was also a certain teal/blue bag containing that special blue/teal box and 2 cupcakes sitting precisely on the dining room table. :) Surprise for sure!! B got me a pair of Tiffany silver ball earrings to match the necklace and bracelet set that I have an wear allll the time. The earrings immediately went in my ears. (I got Brett a puzzle! I made it from one of our honeymoon pictures to remind us what a fab time we had.  It will also give us another activity to do together and then we can frame/hang it up!)

I bought Filet Mignon.  It was so worth it and I'm actually glad they didn't have stupid rib roast. I used my Kitchen Aid mixer (BEST invention ever btw) to make cheddar mashed potatoes.  It was the first time I've used it since B got it for me for my B-day.  I have to admit I was a little intimidated at first- but let me tell you- that is no more.  I will be using this bad-girl for everything!!! Din was delicious. Maybe I can be a housewife ;) .... someday.

All in all- a fabulous first MARRIED V-day.

I love being a Mrs.

Valentine's Day at Wisp

This past weekend B, Kell, Nick and I went to Wisp to snowboard.  We had such a fabulous time!!

We all celebrated V-Day on Sat- on the mountain.  We started on the bunny hill to gain some confidence and to try and figure out what we were doing.. Eventually we went down some greens and then worked our way back to the bunny hill to practice some control.

On Sat night we went to a restaurant called Santa Fe Grill.  It was pretty good and we were starving having only eaten hotel breakfast in the morning.  Needless to say we were exhausted from riding 10-4.. and after dinner we were in bed by 9:30.

On Sunday we had a lesson with Kell's instructor from the day before.  He was an insanely great teacher and really helped us figure out what we were doing and what we were doing wrong.  He helped us work on our toe side turns and by the end of the session B and I were connecting 3 and 4 turns using heel side and toe side!! It was such a super feeling after falling down the mountain the day before.

Each day is an improvement from the last..which makes this up coming weekend so very exciting.

at the bottom of the hill after successfully making it down without falling!

oh hey look at me!

burr! It snowed all morning on Sat. Made for some great "fresh pow"

before V-day dinner on the mountain

i didn't get any pics of brett while he was standing. boo. next weekend :)

Official Boarders!

We went snowboarding at Whitetail this past weekend.

It rocked! I'm amazing. B's amazing. I only fell about 500 times. B only fell about 500 times.

Surely we are ready to try again... which is why we are going to Wisp in 2 weeks... then Snowshoe President's weekend! So very excited about our new winter hobby.

Our child will be the next Shaun White with boarders as good as us for parents. Just you wait.
