Mrs. for 365 days

On October 9, B and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary! We went to Mexico. I took about 20 pictures. Here they are.  We were busy drinking, eating and swimming in the pool outside our suite. We had a really awesome time and I was SO lucky that my husband planned this phenom trip.  It was torture to come back to rain city, glumsville VA. Take me back to Mexicoooooooooooo. hmph.
Just landed in Mexico! The start of our ridiculously fun anniversary weekend
(ignore that I'm wearing the same outfit as previous post! ha)

Summer is in Full Swing!

It sure is good to he HOME! (all of Kel's posts from CR are on her blog.. read them if you want to hear about our trip!) Stay tuned for an update of my favorite CR pics- coming soon.

I would like to point out that I loved every second of going through customs and hearing "Welcome home ladies" from the officer.  It was glorious.  Brett picked us up from the airport in my SUV and it was amazing to drive on paved roads.  We went home, had a few days to relax and then headed to OBX! We have been relaxing and soaking up the sun in the USA.

The girls have been playing in the sound and having a blast.

Since the girls have been such active swimmers, Kel and I ordered them life vests. :) Pink life vests.  Both Cam & Mae like to be near us when we are in the water, and this just makes it a little easier for them.
So cute!!
Cam looks like a tired pooch!

Mae chillin' after swimming

Cammie taking a break and wanting shade
Besides being outside every day, we have been doing a whole lot of "nothing" and it feels great. (Right now I am watching Full House- HA) Linds came over and we got to catch up on the 100 things that have been going on.  She is teaching first grade again, like me. :) We are going over to the Chandler's house tomorrow and Mr. C is making ribs at our request. We are all SO excited for them. They are the best in the world!

Last night we hit up Tortuga's for din, and of course I got my favorite-burger-in-the-world: the Bajan Burger. Yum. Of course I had to Trip Adviser it. Everyone should go to Tortuga's.

The UV factor here is NEVER below 10

well- maybe Googling was a bad idea. Here are three of the interesting/humorous/potentially scary things I found out about CR.

The Sun here is NASTY. CR is only ten degrees N of the Equator, so use sunscreen.  You can burn to a crisp on 30 minutes if you run around unprotected.

Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica but acting as go between or pimping is not. When entering the world of prostitution in Costa Rica you do so assuming ALL potential risks. They can be numerous and life altering.

Bugs/Dengue Fever
Dengue is spread by a mosquito that ONLY bites in the daytime. Dengue comes in two varieties. The first causes flu-like symptoms and though you are uncomfortable, you are not dead. The second is NASTY and extremely painful and makes you wish you WERE dead... which you can be without treatment.
SO GLAD WE BOUGHT 100% DEET. ha. Those suckers won't come near us. Now spiders the size of squirrels.. that's another story. :(

Costa Rica.... See you on Sunday.

Must Try Harder

It seems as though married life has gotten the best of the blog. I have done a poor job of updating what has been going on in the first 6 months of our new life. FAIL. I am going to try and do a better.  Here's to a new start! ha!

Brett has another new job! He is working for Exponential Consulting. Strayer, his previous employer, is now one of his clients.  I don't really understand all that he does, but in my brain it turns out that he works on upgrading accounting systems for different clients/companies. He is loving his options working from home most days.  I wish I had that luxury, but no, someone has to teach the youth of America how to succeed.

Aside from hibernating this winter and only coming out for snowboarding, I am so happy that it is starting to warm up.  A few weeks ago I went to Charleston with a friend from HS to her bachelorette weekend.  It was so much fun.  We stayed in an amazing house in Isle of Palms, went out to eat, went to bars, saw the beach and showed the bride how much we love her.  I am now a huge fan of Charleston and would love to go back for an extended vacation.

Spring break was late in April. Brett, Kell, Nick & I went to Duck.  The weather was pretty interesting for the most part.  The second night we were there, there were really horrible tornadoes that ripped through southern VA, parts of NC and the OBX.  Both houses missed getting hit by narrow margins.  Scarborough Lane was hit and so were a few buildings on rt. 158.  We were very lucky that neither of our houses suffered any damage.  After this horrible night, the sun came out and it was beyond beautiful for 3 days.  Then Thurs and Fri it was about 60deg. - def sweatshirt weather. Then of course Saturday was awesome and Brett and I had to leave.  During our SB we went to Tortugas for amazing burgers, ate Duck doughnuts, grilled out, went to Walmart, watched dad paint the living room, went to the beach, cam got groomed (she looks so cute!), watched lots of movies/tv and I tried to get a tan.

My school has been going through renovation and my classroom has been packed for 2 weeks. We were supposed to move before spring break, 14 days ago, 12 days ago, the Monday over spring break, Wednesday over spring break & yesterday. We Haven't moved yet.  Renovation is semi stressful.  It's a good thing that I'm a great planner (so is my team mate- CL) and due to this we have planned our lessons for the next 2+weeks.  We are so eager to move to our new beautiful classrooms. I'll be posting pics of it as soon as we move! Keep your fingers crossed for a move this Thursday next Monday.

Phew- up to dateish.
This coming weekend 2 HUGE things are happening.  My 2 dear college friends are getting married. On the same day. So excited and so sad. We can only go to one. I will be anxiously awaiting pics from Anne & Bobby's wedding as we attend Vance & Amanda's.  I love you both and wish we could be in two places at once.  Updates to come.

Ok. Time to pay my full attention to tonight's 16 & Pregnant. This girl is having twin boys.
