Paradise

Well, B and I have some exciting news...

We BOOKED our honeymoon!!!

We are going to Punta Cana to what looks like the most amazing place I have ever seen!! It is called Zoetry and it is an "endless privilege" resort with a fab spa and crystal clear Dominican waters!

We are staying in a thatched roof villa w/mini bar... not to mention our own pool :) along with 24 hour room service. It sounds like heaven.. with the beach 5 steps outside our villa door.

I can't tell you how happy I am that we can take stressful honeymoon planning OFF of our super long wedding to-do-list. We are so thrilled with our final choice... because let me tell you, we had pretty much thought of going to every place imaginable.

YEAH FOR THE DOMINICAN! Only 6 months, 2 weeks & 2 days. woot!

CPA

B takes his 4th (and final) CPA test in just about a week.  He has been studying and taking review classes... keep your fingers crossed that he does amazingly well!!!

TAM is Coming Home!!

My best friend will FINALLY be back east for a good chunk of time! Tam, JC and baby Costa will be returning to NY from their fairy tale life on Maui.  I couldn't be more excited that this adorable family will be just a quick car ride away for a few months!

Another reason I am so excited the Reverberi's are leaving Maui, besides the selfish one of me missing and needing my bff close, is that I finally get to meet my nephew, Costa!

Hurry up March 23! Have a safe flight and I will see you SOON!

Here Comes the Bridal Gown!

Well, I got a call that my DRESS is in.. I had no idea it would be in this early!! When I ordered it this past December they said it would be here in May... not March!!

I can't wait to go see it again- and I can't wait for B to see it.. but he has to wait until the big day... it might not seem hard to keep it a secret.. but it is!!!

I have been dreaming of it and looking at pictures that Mom took back in December, but I am so very excited to try on MY gown.. without the 80 clips holding it on.

EEK! We are really getting married in just about 6 months!!! Looks like I really need to start doing some more serious planning. B and I still need a photog, officiant, flowers, band/dj... yikes! It is a good thing there is one more working week until spring break. Hopefully we can get some of this stuff taken care of.

I Love Spring!

This past weekend B was in Las Vegas for one of his fraternity brother's bachelor parties.  He had a great time- gambling, going out, gambling, winning lots of money, drinking, hanging out with the boys, gambling, etc. all of the things you do in Vegas- with a few details I'm sure he left out.... and it rained the ENTIRE weekend here. so great. (can you sense the jealousy??!)

B sent me this picture from his iPhone when they went to the rooftop bar called Moon... I can only imagine how AWESOME this is in person... maybe some day....(hint hint!!)

Well, to kill some time in between addressing our save the dates, Mom and I went shopping.  Mom religiously shops at Anne Taylor Loft, and always has really great clothes.... well- she dragged me into the store and it just so happens I pretty much bought it out.  They were having an outrageous sale- 30% off all regular priced items with an extra 20% off (making it 50%) if you opened a credit card!!! guess who opened one?? Yep, you guessed it...Mom and I both!

My great new tops, dresses, pants and cardigans really make me want spring to get here ASAP.  This week it is supposed to get close to 70! I will be breaking out some of the things I got.

Here is a little snack of a great fitter dress I can't wait to wear- with a fab gladiator sandal I might add.. (now, if only my Hunters would come in b/c I would totally rock them with some of my new clothes as well. haha)

Hunter Tall Boots

Well.. my new obsession should be here in about 4 days. Nordsrtom.com (as always) came to the rescue and had a size 7- Hunter Tall Wellie-Silver in stock! I can't wait for rainy days in March and April... these will become my new wardrobe staple item.. and turn terrible rainy days into happy ones.

Where Should We Go?!

Well, tonight B and I are going to meet with a travel agent to get some ideas/options for our honeymoon. I am pretty much really, extremely excited!! I want October to be here tomorrow.. well I guess with the exception of July and August- because I LOVE summer.

So, here is the big question: where should we go??

Caribbean?

Hawaii?

Dear Summer,
Hurry up because then it is really almost October.. and then I will be a MRS.

I will let you know what we decide!

Gold Medals!

Friday and Saturday were the Bobsled races.. and the major reason we went to the olympics!!

Friday was the COLDEST and wettest snow I have ever seen!! The flakes were literally the size of golf balls. We were outside for quite some time.  We got to the track early so we could get front row bleacher seats at the finish line. It was so great to be so close to all the action. When it was Mike's time to go (he was 12th) we were all so super excited and were all over CTV.  We had "Team Kohn" hats that stood out in the crowd!

Saturday was the big day- the finals.
USA 1 (steve holcomb in 1st with a .40 lead) Keep in mind that in the sport of bobsled usually thousandths of a second is what seperates the tops sleds. In the Women's 2-man .01 separated the silver from the bronze medal. So we were really excited.

USA2(john napier) 11th after a crash and USA (Mike Kohn!!) 13th after lots of adversity -- one of his teammates was arrested 2 nights before the first heat due to a domestic violence dispute with his fiance, and then Friday - one of the guys slipped getting into the sled and almost didn't make it in at the start.

Mike's racing and qualifying was such an accomplishment since he came out of retirement about 2 weeks ago to make the Olympic team.

It was SO exciting standing at the finish cheering for all of the athletes! I can't even describe how cool it is to be at Olympic events with the best athletes in the world.  They are all so dedicated and motivated to always do their best.

Final Standings:
Gold: Steve Holcomb- USA1

Silver: Andre Lange- Germany 1

Bronze: Linden Rush- Canada 1

Mike came in 13th!! We are SO proud of him!!!!

Cougar Crawl Continued...

Day 4: Thursday, February 25, 2010

Today we just walked around Whistler again. We stopped by some more shops and tasted the local beverages. I would have to say I am a big fan of Kokanee over Alexander Keith's. Kell and I tried a few of both! :)
In the Olympic village there were stages for the live performances and news booths everywhere! We got to see the reporters broadcast live on CTV- which is a major station in Canada.

I love how this man in red walked right through my picture. splended!

Cougar Crawl In Whistler

Day 2: Wedesnday, February 24, 2010

Phone rings. 8am. Womacks: sleeping. Goodwins: woken up thus loosing the bet.  "Hi this is Connie from the front desk, can we send someone up to fix your lock now?" Kim: "Hi Connie, would it be possible to wait a little while, we are still kind of half asleep, call back after 11." Little did Connie know, we were still on east coast time.

We woke up around 11, open the blinds to a gorgeous view of Blackcomb Mountain, Sotheby's and the Four Seasons. Who is it that we see in an orange Bobsled jacket next to the lift? It's dad. What a way to wake up!! A quick run on the treadmill, hope in the shower, put on layers upon layers of clothes, and we're off!!

We walk around downtown Whistler, bought lots of treats and felt very, very Olympic!

At night we went the a Bo-Dyne Bobsled par-tay. We saw lots of important people and again, felt very Olympic!!!

VanCougar 2010

Day 1:

And we’re off. Finally in the air on our very first trip flying with Alaska air. This time, Kell and I made our flight (a big PHEW!!! Last time we were not so successful when we missed our Hawaii flight- can we say disaster?!) thanks to a few people. Carrie covered my class so I could leave school early. I sped home to meet Kell who was at my house. It was a pretty frantic scene as I parked and did a slow jog to my front door.

The cab driver would be there in 11 minutes and I hadn’t changed, finished my last minute packing or said goodbye to the puppy.

Kell ran around and packed my things as I changed and debated on bringing my teddy bear- who I don’t leave home with out. AG stayed home to keep Brett company while he takes his 3rd CPA test on Friday.

Well, I wasn’t sure we would make it to the airport- the cab ride started out well interesting. The cab man put kell's huge bag into the trunk first (because I was still packing). While I was changing Kell took my finally packed bag to the cab man and his direct quote was “I didn’t think the 2nd one would be bigger.” I guess kell and I packed lightly…. On another note, let me just use this quote to describe our drive in the cab mans car “pump the breaks.” (name that movie) I didn’t think I could hold in my carsickness the whole way to the airport. Good thing I did because it was only 12 minutes away- door to door and Mr. cab man would not have been happy.

Next stop, airport security. Do kell and I make it through with no trouble. Absolutely not.

While getting passports checked kell is the lucky winner chosen out of hundreds to gets hand swiped- of course because she looks like a terrorist in her Juicy hoodie and very large diamond stud earrings. What a surprise- she is clean… on to the bag scans.

My bag’s go through the scanner and turns out, my Stenwood water bottle has a mere sip of iced tea left from school today – hardly enough to quench an ant’s thirst let alone be some destructive acidic formula to cause an airplane explosion – so I am forced to exit the security area, dump the sip of backwashed ice tea, walk to the back of the line, and start again.

We made it through. Our flights were pretty non-eventful. The highlight had to have been the Cougar Mountain Snikerdoodle cookies we got compliments of Alaska air. We do love cougars, especially VanCougars!!

We finally arrive in good ‘ol Canada. Breeze through customs and get our bags. Almost had a bag mix-up…who would have thought that someone else would be traveling to the Olympics with a HUGE, hot pink Diane Von Furstenberg bag?

We finally meet up with Pete and Joe after realizing we ended up at two different arriving terminals, track down our cab in Spot 29, load our huge bags into the van and we’re off!

This cab driver is definitely different than the one in DC! Imagine a stereotypical hippie/stoner/snowboard Canadian type, eh. He fills us in on all we need to know- starting with the good bars to go to, beers to drink (Alexander Keiths or Kokanee) the music scene at the Olympics (and how Damian Jr. Marley’s performance was one to match any 4-20 celebration), where to find the best fresh “pow” to “shread, eh?”, etc.

Two and a half hours up to Whistler from Vancouver- going on our 12th hour of traveling. We finally arrive in the posh Upper Village of Whistler. We unload our bags, and it is freezing!! We meet Dad and Rosemary in the front lobby – at this time it is 2:30am here (5:30am east coast time). Total travel time: 14 hours, 23 minutes, 17 seconds. We drag ourselves to the elevators and up to our room. My dad puts the room key in the slot…and nothing. Maybe they somehow got demagnetized? Replacement keys in the slot…nothing. Dad goes back down and gets the desk manager…his master key finally opens the door and we pass out. “The first one up buys lunch.”
